Livestock Farm

Kyoto University Livestock Farm

The livestock farm is located in Kyotamba Town, Funai District, Kyoto Prefecture, with its total area of 16.5-hectares including grassland of 10.5 hectares for forage grass production. The farm has about 100 wagyu Japanese cattle and engages in breeding and raising such cattle as well as herbage production. The farm also has been used for training students and field research in animal production, utilizing its accommodation facility with a capacity for 32 persons.
Collaborating with related divisions at GSA and other research institutions, the farm conducts both basic and applied studies in beef cattle production such as technique development of breeding high quality cows for meat.
